For me this is (slightly) more commercial than some of their other compositions, but it’s not in the same league as Holy War, Set the World On Fire, Hammer of Wrath, We The United, Epilogue, Swansong, A Frozen Serenade, Dancing With The Devil, Edge of the World, which are all epic.

Don't worry, You mentioned When Destinies Align, my favourite, but this Banger actually grew on me so, its is now situated in the middle of my Lovebites list, top half tough, I did write that its grown on me. Anyways, keep on reacting to our Ladies.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the bad English of Google Translate. From Japan. I completely agree with your evaluation of this song. I love this band's thrashy and extremely powerful heavy metal sound that you wouldn't expect from their elegant appearance, but I think this song probably has a commercial strategy. From 2018 to 2019, they gained momentum to expand internationally by winning awards at Wacken, but the pandemic ruined their efforts. After that, it went on hiatus due to member withdrawal, but now that they have revived and finally started a world tour including the US as LOVEBITES 2.0, the record company is releasing short songs that can reach even people other than core metal fans with the aim of making a jump all at once. (Their famous songs so far have been too long for radio lol). I think it's different from the music they're really aiming for, but I hope that as many people as possible will listen to this song. I decided to put it outside my top ten Lovebites songs. Somewhere around #12 or #13 - for me. I do have to say it gets better with each listen.

All these bands don't stray too far from their successful formulas. Lovebites songs are diverse, so we never know what they will do next. This song is more commercially accessible to the masses. It's a smart song. It's a happy song. This song will grow on you the more you listen to it. At least that's how it was for me. 🤘🏼🐺🤘🏼

I think, there are two things about "Unchained". - First, it is a grower, a catchy one. So it's understandable, how you feel about it. Same with me, but I immediately listened to it again, and it gets better for me every take! - Second, I think, this song will explode in a live or better stadium setup, with the audience shouting "Anywhere you want!" all the time. Just a guess, but I think, it's correct! So no excuses, "Unchained" may grow on you as well. Who knows. Up to this point, I agree, it's a good song. After heavy rotation, it may grow to a great song or more...

The song didn’t hit me hard the first time I heard it. But as I have heard it more it has grown on me because it has so much going on. It needs more listens to uncover the layers. You have missed some very good live releases while waiting for this new track.

I agree that this is a good song but not a highlight in their body of work so far, I really prefer it when they go full speed power metal mode. But they probably want to diversify their music with some mid-tempo songs as well. BTW I really like to hear your honest opinion and I hope you continue to say it.

I hope Lovebites fans caught the live broadcast of Memorial for the Warrior Souls concert today and their new song Soul Defender MV played after. Awesome.

It's curious how reviewers who don't particularly like any given song by any band spend so much time apologizing and rationalizing and giving excuses for their opinions, and not just BethRobinson. I enjoyed her intelligent and honest reaction. I guess I'm more frightened than curious about WHY this is happening more and more.

I personally believe this song was made for radio airplay. It's much shorter than most of their songs and a much more radio friendly sound.

If you want to hear something really strong of the lovebites, you should listen to "dissonance" and "The soldier stands solitarily", Unfortunately these tracks are available only audio at the moment, but I hear them live in the streaming concert today on the YT channel of the band (memorial for the warrior souls), and the performance of these two songs it's been insane!!!

You are absolutely right, it is a good song but not one of their best songs. I myself love classic thrash metal, so when I saw Asami dancing, I was perplexed because I am used to shaking my head to their heavy songs. But I ask you to give LOVEBITES another chance and check out the song "We Are The Ressurection" OLV, which was recently released. I think you will like it more.

Unlucky Morpheus has something new coming up as I recall Hagane and Bridear have new music along with Fates Gear with Nana (Thanks to Jill Violinist who I follow) also Hagane have new members singer Nagi and drummer Junno who I think everyone knows

At the Lovebites Premier today they also shared Soul Defender a new unreleased song that rocks not sure when it get released publically but I heard the live album Memorial for the Warrior Souls today ahead of my album I already ordered with Lovebites II (all new songs)

Welcome back to Lovebites ! This track has pretty much everything - a seamless and innovative blend of AOR/heavy rock, speed-power metal, and a bit of thrash thrown in at the breakdown before the solos. At the same time, it's got a catchy hook to make this an awesome LIVE song in the making. In a way, I agree with you. I don't really rank my Lovebites songs but if I have to, "Unchained" will probably not be in my top 10 because they've got so many more phenomenal tracks. Having said that, it's still an awesome song and if you understand the historical context of this track, you'll have a much better appreciation for it. BTW, from the same new EP "Lovebites EP II", the band just dropped another song/MV called "Soul Defender" today on August 12. I think this might be more your cup of tea.

The backing vocal are made by KANADE the bassist, not on the MV. I saw that on her youtube shorts.

Imagine this...they have just now released their first EP, with 2 new songs, "Endless Game" and "Blink." No videos yet, but we shall see, won't we. 😁‼️‼️

TRiDENT songs are mostly “growers”. They don’t have instant impact, but over time you get into the nuances and complexities of them. No good for radio but great for music lovers. When I first heard Spice I had pretty much the same reaction as you, but after a few listens of the mini album it’s on, I’d say it’s very good. Not “great”? To be fair, how many bands really have more than a few “great” songs in an entire career? Asaka’s already met her quota!

I think this is a really good song. Maybe it will grow on you as well. But I appreciate your honesty. BTW I would love to hear your opinion on the idol group Shinshi Todoroku, Gekijou no Gotoku AKA Shingeki. Their latest MV is called Noctiluca - 『ノクチルカ』-神激(神使轟く、激情の如く。) - In the vein of PassCode and Maze, but with an individual style that makes them one of my favourite idol groups.

With the last three mini-albums TRiDENT has specifically gone out to find producers/song writers/arrangers to work with. This means if you don't like the person, they are working with then you most likely won't like the song. What's interesting is that there is usually one song by the person they are working with that I like the most. Like with this song they went to satoru hiraide, UVERworld's arranger, for arranging and he also did エンドロール (End Roll). I much prefer End Roll out of those two. Out of the three songs Koji Hirachi, PassCode's songwriter, worked on Signal is still my favorite even though Repaint and iCon are good songs. It will be interesting what their upcoming album DAX is going to be like compared to the mini albums they have been doing. Personally, I would like to see them apply what they have learned instead of doing more collaborations.

I've cooled on EoE. Evolve was a very strong start that, for me, hasn't been met on subsequent releases. City pop with a twist.

"Maze" is a Japanese word, so it needs to be pronounced as such in TWO syllables (ma + ze). It has absolutely no relation to the English word "maze". The word appears like 5 times at the very beginning of the song if you want to check how it is pronounced.

nek! (NEKI) continues to increase the number of customers day by day at Japan's small live house, a special place where bands can perform every month, and their first one-man show sold out immediately. This is also a small live house, and although the music is outsourced, I think it will continue to grow.

Great new band! The base player is really in love with slapping and popping, her sheer joy is delightful!

No real significance about the outfits outside of they've only been together as NEK! for around 6 months now. They are backed by Pony Canyon, or one of their subsidiaries, so they have some funding but no real need to change outfits yet when there is only the one EP so far. I really don't know of a single Japanese band that doesn't use a stylist or have a member design their stage outfits but most tend to keep them for awhile except for Nemophila.

The bass. It's all about the driving bass. Kanade is their (not so) secret weapon lol. I'm in love with this band instantly after listening to their first song 'Get Over'. Btw, STMLT (Stemirates) just dropped a new song and MV called 'ANTIMENTAL' two days ago. It's their first song/MV with the new formation after they lost their keyboardist and drummer. It's a slow tempo song but it's so heavy. You might want to check them out. Thanks a lot for this reaction!!
